Boys & Girls - 5th grade (for the 2021-2022 school year)
2021 Running Club Information: If you are interested in joining the Middle School XC team as a 5th grader we are excited to have you!!
As a 5th grader you are still considered part of running club HOWEVER, you will no longer practice with the primary school. As 5th graders you will practice with the middle school XC team. Mr. Holmberg and Mrs. Leonardi are the Middle School XC coaches.
As part of the XC team you will race against 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. There is no school sponsored transportation for 5th graders and you will be responsible for transportation to and from meets.
You do not have to pay the middle school activity fee (as 6-8 gr. students do), nor do you register through Dragon Fly (if you have older siblings doing that). Runners will need to pay a $12 uniform fee for a running club shirt you get to keep and if you would like to run in the Mountain West Invitational it will be an additional $8 registration fee.
You must get a physical before you practice! There are many places in the valley that do sports physicals, even some that do so for free. As I get information about sports physicals I will forward that on to folks. You can go to your family doctor, a chiropractor, or clinic offering sports physicals. PHYSICAL FORM
Practice starts Thursday, August 19th @ 7:00 AM. We will meet at the New Gym and practice in the mornings before school starts. After school begins we will shift practice to after school. More information about practice and meet schedules will be sent later.
Be sure to get yourself a good pair of running shoes. Middle school meets are 1.6 miles and you will need adequate footwear to practice and compete at this distance. If you are ready to sign up please join the Remind class which will keep them in touch with Coach Holmberg as practice begins before the school year starts.
